Vessel design - our vision
Diverse Marine work with some of the world’s leading naval architects to produce vessel designs that meet your needs.
Exploring new markets and sectors, we work with clients and suppliers to understand exactly what is required and how new developments can make a real difference.
The very best software can then turn the design into a tangible image of our concept solution. Specialist contractors calculate all of the performance parameters, 3D printed scale models are tested and validated before all systems are modelled.
Forward thinking and at the forefront of vessel design, please get in touch if you would like to find out more.

Design insight
The Diverse Marine team are always keen to stay ahead of vessel development and always keen to explore new markets and sectors that could benefit from our development.
Working with clients and suppliers to understand the requirements of each sector and where the supply chain can offer new development products to make each mission or vessel task easier for the operator with better commercial and technical efficiency. Working with a team of naval architects, designers and suppliers our team can assure our clients that we will work together collectively to understand your requirements.
Concept design
Working with our chosen licencors, naval architects and designers and using the very best modern software our policy is to turn the design insight into a tangible image of what our concept solution could look like.
From here our clients can visualise their ideas and requirement and can again we tweaked and changed until it meets your requirements. Lines can be changed and results seem immediately in 3D reducing
production issues when the design moves to build. Moving forward liveries and specification changes can easily be
modelled to produce vessel specific marketing information.

Modelling & proof of concept
Using the concept design, Diverse Marine can use specialist contractors to calculate vessel motions, resistance & performance and seakeeping using specialist software packages including Seakeeper to investigate and prove the performance parameters and the effect of vertical acceleration, pitch, roll and relative motion.at the bow.
Using this data, the hull form can be refined further or be used to accurately assess the mission/operational parameters of each design and give confidence to clients that they are building a vessel that will perform and graphically
demonstrate improvements over any existing proven vessels they operate.

Testing
To validate the modelling and proof and concept, Diverse Marine can 3D print scale models and prepare them for tank testing with station markings, waterlines and turbulence simulator strips.
The model can then be towed in a test tank at various displacement and LCG positions in a free to pitch and heave arrangement to validate resistance, performance and sea-keeping. Further to this the models can be outfitted with propulsion and monitoring equipment to carry out free running tests in an open tank or in open water to verify seakeeping in all directions/conditions.

Structure & design detail
Once the shell, LCG, VCG and weights are determined, Diverse Marine work with various naval architects and designers to develop the structure of the vessel in accordance with the selected construction material and to meet class and flag requirements and importantly the nature of the intended mission or operation.
From here a 3D model can be build up to include the structure and detail design elements to understand the critical paths for maintenance. For example main engine shipping routes. Using various software packages both 2D and 3D construction drawings can then be developed to enable construction of the vessel.

System design
Diverse Marine believe the key to an efficient and reliable build is to develop the systems design in model space before installation of the vessel to reduce production hours and ensure that kits of parts can be identified from the model, pre-manufactured or even retrospectively supplied in the event of a component failure.
Design and integration of machinery packages can be developed to ensure correct alignment etc. Productive software time saves inefficient production time and reduces the cost of build and increases reliability.

Post-delivery design services
Post delivery design services is a key part of Diverse Marine’s business, supporting past projects and working heavily in the vessel refit, repair and modification sector. Our team work with industry experts, naval architects and designers to produce solutions for challenging issues on existing vessels.
From 3D scanning existing craft to obtain hydrodynamic data for stability books and to enable design on vessel modifications to designing new systems for refit craft and to support new builds in service on both class vessels and flag only craft. Our clients trust us to deliver through the life of any vessel new build
or refit.
