NR Marine Services commissions Chartwell Marine to bring a new legacy turbine vessel to the market

Southampton, 17th June 2025 — NR Marine Services is excited to announce that it has commissioned Chartwell Marine, a trusted pioneer of next-generation vessel design, to design a new CTV in response to client requests for a new class of vessel that is capable of supporting older generation assets, now referred to as legacy turbines, but utilising modern construction and outfit technology to maximise vessel fuel efficiency and technician comfort.

It has been a generation since UK based Naval Architects and Shipyards designed a sub 22m, sub 60 tonne, sub 3m bow height crew transfer vessel. Chartwell Marine has developed the ‘Defiant Class”, a 20m CTV designed to Workboat Code Edition 3 with IMO Tier 3 compliance featuring a step free flush forward deck, resiliently mounted superstructure and modern furnishings and materials used in larger CTVs.

This is a bold, DEFIANT step to do different, to create a new class of smaller CTV required for legacy turbines whilst not losing the core identity of modern UK designed, UK built and UK operated CTVs.
DEFIANT in compliance, this new class of CTV will comply with Workboat Code Edition 3, IMO Tier 3 and the spirit and core fundamentals of HS_OSC – albeit in a more cost-effective approach.
DEFIANT in pricing, it is essential the new class is cost effective in the modern market. UK quality but smartly sized to benefit from UK supply chain core strengths and therefore pricing.
DEFIANT in reliability, working with supply chain to integrate a new, smaller Quad IPS IMO Tier 3 or Hamilton Waterjet propulsion solution with high power to weight ratio whilst maintaining simple, quality and reliable engineering.
DEFIANT in change, accepting most legacy turbines have unique site requirements, the vessel retains flexibility to be tailored to different projects from a water jet propulsion system for shallow water sites and hybrid options where budgets allow to internal modularity to suit different racking and seating solutions.

Step free access from deck level to bow step over point, tiered seating, Male and Female heads, comprehensive galley suite and optimised hull design for near shore projects. Following an internal fleet review long with external market research, the data shows that there is a potential to replace older tonnage which is between 10-15 years old for near shore projects which have a lifespan that warrants investment in new CTV’s”.

NR Marine Services and WMD announce development of New Cyclone Class CTV

Cowes, UK (06.06.25) Following on from the success of the Storm Class CTV’s, we are delighted to announce that NR Marine Services have engaged WMD to develop the new Cyclone Class CTV.

Building on the proven capabilities of the Storm Class, the Cyclone Class will enhance onboard accommodation and welfare facilities, offering a new level of comfort and functionality for offshore operations.

NR Marine’s Storm Class vessels have been designed by WMD and built at Isle of Wight shipyard, Diverse Marine. The Cyclone Class continues NR Marine’s commitment to supporting UK design and shipbuilding.

With an extended 29-metre hull, the Cyclone Class allows for increased internal volume, accommodating up to 6 cabins and 24 passengers.

Propulsion: 4 x Volvo IPS1050

Maximum speed: 28 knots

Diverse Marine’s Finance & Lease Programme Delivers Two CTVs, with Five More in Build

Cowes, UK (27-02-25) Since launching its Finance & Lease Programme in November 2023, Diverse Marine has successfully delivered two crew transfer vessels (CTVs), with three more currently in build for delivery this year and two further shortly thereafter of the first batch.The programme continues to operate as a rolling initiative, providing new-build CTVs based on customer demand.

The first vessel completed under the programme was NR Alpha, which was unveiled at Seawork last year. This Storm Class CTV has set new benchmarks for fuel efficiency and performance, leading NR Marine Services to order a third vessel—NR Rival, the first of the new Typhoon Class CTVs.

NR Rival was delivered in January 2025. TheTyphoon Class features a hull form designed for exceptional head-sea performance and tower access while maintaining high buoyancy reserves for superior seakeeping in following and stern-quarter seas. It also comes with Zero Emissions (Power Management) class notation, recognising its efficiency in reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Stock Build 3, a first Brevity Class CTV is undergoing sea trials with the vessel available for quick delivery following rebrand to suit a prospective clients requirements.

Stock Build 4, to be named NR Rebellion, a second Typhoon Class CTV, is now in its final build phase, with the wheelhouse and saloon fitted earlier this month. Again ordered by NR Marine Services, she is scheduled for launch and sea trials in March.

Stock Build 6, an Ambitious Class CTV is also currently under construction and will be delivered to OEG, whilst Stock Build 7, a further Brevity Class CTV, will follow in Q3/Q4 of this year.

Diverse Marine Start Construction of CSOV Daughter Craft

Diverse Marine is proud to announce that it has been selected by VARD GROUP AS to construct a Chartwell Daugher Craft to be installed on a VARD 4 19 CSOV under construction for PURUS Wind.

The 12m catamaran daughter craft,designed by Chartwell Marine in Southampton features a twin IMOTier-3Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system to reduce emissions and provide good performance when deployed from the CSOV.

Diverse Marine & NR Marine Services announce the launch of NR ALPHA

Diverse Marine and NR Marine Services and proud to announce the launch of the second of class Storm Class CTV, NR ALPHA that is now proudly being displayed at Seawork 2024 in the Port of Southampton on berth VB21.

NR ALPHA is a sister to NR PREDATOR delivered in March this year. NR PREDATOR has performed very well on her first contract with higher performance levels and substantially lower fuel burn and emission levels than other similar vessels on the same project.

The Storm Class measures 27.6m LOA by 10m BOA and is fitted with a quad IMO Tier-3 Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system. Its unique hull form features a very fine entry with higher buoyancy reserves above the main chines and resistance reducingsolutions integrated into the underbody. A resilient superstructure ensures very low noise and vibration levels in the passenger saloon with the first recording sub 55dBA at full power.

NR ALPHA is the first vessel from the Diverse Marine Finance and Lease Programme announced late last year and the first of three vessels being delivered to the scheme this year. The programme allows Diverse Marine to build offshore wind crew transfer vessels to stock for onward lease or sale. The scheme removes the requirement for clients to source construction finance and Diverse Marine can offer the vessels on lease/hire purchase with 0% deposit, a fully funded solution with payments monthly in arrears.

Diverse Marine is excited to announce a strategic partnership with Hefring Marine, which will see the integration of an artificial intelligence marine solution as a standard feature in all new vessels built at its yard. This technology provides real-time decision support to the vessel master, enhancing operational efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, and improving passenger safety.

The system leverages both collected and real-time data on vessel movements, weather conditions, engine and propulsion performance, and the responses of both operator and vessel. It continuously predicts outcomes for the voyage and suggests optimal actions, including recommended vessel speeds, directly to the master. The guidance, which adjusts based on selected modes (eco or comfort), aims to maintain safe speeds with minimal passenger discomfort or achieve the most fuel and emission-efficient speeds.

Sensors integrated into Diverse Marine's platforms monitor impacts and vibrations from the vessel's movement through the water, providing real-time alerts to the master and shore-based teams if impact thresholds are exceeded. The system also displays up-to-the-minute weather and sea state information onboard. Future enhancements will include route guidance features, enabling the software to chart the most comfortable and fuel-efficient course based on real-time sea conditions.

For shore-based technical teams, the system offers comprehensive monitoring capabilities. They can track individual vessels and entire fleets in real time, displaying live locations and voyages on an interactive map. An overlay graph presents a range of data, including motion and turbine impact metrics, speed recommendations for safety, fuel consumption rates, weather and sea conditions, engine performance, and more, with second-by-second detail.

The strategic alliance grants exclusivity for new offshore wind crew transfer vessels constructed in the United Kingdom. Diverse Marine is dedicated to collaborating closely with Hefring Marine to advance the IMAS technology and its outputs, ensuring they are precisely tailored to the unique demands of this industry sector.

Diverse Marine Launch UK First Finance & Lease Programme

Diverse Marine is pleased to announce the introduction of the Diverse Marine Client Finance Programme, their own finance and lease programme. The programme is designed initially for the financed construction of offshore wind crew transfer vessels.

Over the last 24 months, Diverse Marine has witnessed the pressures that our clients and vessel owners are under and the difficulties they face justifying builds in the UK, with conventional vessel procurement methods uncompetitive against yards in Europe, Scandinavia and the Far East - who can offer procurement terms without the need for stage payments through the construction phase.

The solution was to find a mechanism whereby the shipyard funds the construction of the vessels giving the owner/operator the ability to “collect” the vessel on completion through term finance or long term lease options.

Diverse Marine has listened and can now offer this with immediate effect through the Diverse Marine Client Finance Programme. Financing for an initial, but rolling, eight vessels has been allocated, with the first vessels already in build for delivery in 2024.

With the UK Government targeting 50GW of installed offshore wind capacity by 2030 from the current 15GW and European member states targeting a collective 111GW offshore wind capacity by 2023, the European and UK supply chain needs to provide solutions as to how this can be achieved.

Funding for offshore wind CTV’s has been challenging and the Diverse Marine Client Finance Programme aims to ease and overcome the challenges to ownership and operation of crew transfer vessels.

Peter Curtis, an independent marine finance consultant, has been instrumental in setting up the new programme for Diverse Marine and continues to play a vital role in the day to day running and liaison with clients as Customer Finance Director.

For UK yards to remain globally competitive, the need to talk monthly lease figures or monthly repayment figures has become more critical than capital purchase costs. Shipbuilding Credit Guarantee Scheme to boost UK's shipbuilding industry and employment on the Isle of Wight

The UK shipbuilding industry is set to receive a significant boost as the government launches the Shipbuilding Credit Guarantee Scheme (SCGS) - a key component of the £4 billion National Shipbuilding Strategy Refresh plan. The scheme is expected to create hundreds of jobs and contribute hundreds of millions to the UK economy, providing a positive impact to maritime firms like Diverse Marine on the Isle of Wight.

Diverse Marine, the largest and busiest shipbuilder on the Isle of Wight, boasts a diverse range of current builds, including offshore wind crew transfer vessels, autonomous workboats, passenger vessels, and search & rescue craft, in addition to carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance on lifeboats for the RNLI. As a cornerstone of shipbuilding on the island, Diverse Marine plays a vital role in sustaining high-skilled careers and supporting the local supply chain.

Industry Minister Nusrat Ghani emphasized the importance of shipbuilding as an integral part of the UK's industrial identity, stating, "With cutting-edge vessels designed and built here in the UK, this will be a boost to high-skilled careers and every company involved in the supply chain for shipbuilding, helping us to grow the economy."

The SCGS's impact is expected to be significant, with government estimates suggesting the creation of hundreds of new jobs and a substantial financial contribution to the economy. By sharing the risk with lenders, the scheme will encourage finance offers to UK vessel owners and operators, providing the much-needed capital for ship purchases, refits, retrofits, and repairs.

Ben Wallace, the Shipbuilding Tsar and Defence Secretary, emphasized the importance of building confidence in UK shipyards and investing in technology to drive productivity forward in this vital sector. Shipbuilding contributes £2.4 billion to the UK economy annually and supports 42,600 jobs across the nation, making it a crucial part of the country's export ambitions, with 95 percent of UK trade moved by sea.

Maritime UK CEO Chris Shirling-Rooke MBE applauded the government's launch of the SCGS, stating, "The SCGS is a massive vote of confidence from the government, and it will empower the UK’s shipbuilding enterprise to compete fairly on the global stage in doing what it does best: building Great British ships." This investment in shipbuilding aligns with the UK's new green economy, encouraging continued investment in innovative, sustainable, and low-carbon maritime technologies.

The Shipbuilding Credit Guarantee Scheme comes at a crucial time for coastal communities, as it will revitalize the UK's shipbuilding sector and support a vast supply chain, sustaining skilled jobs across the country. The wider maritime sector, which already employs 113,000 people nationwide and contributes £11 billion to the economy, will further benefit from this initiative.

Seawork 2023 opened with a visit to our quayside display by Nus Ghani, Minister of State at Cabinet Office and Department for Business & Trade. We were able to welcome her onboard the first of class 14m Medina Class Lifeboat built for Caister Volunteer Lifeboat Service and also show her the upcycled and lengthened Iceni Courage offshore wind crew transfer vessel.

With glorious weather - especially out on the quay - we had the opportunity to spend time with customers, suppliers and visitors, showing them around the both vessels. Diverse Marine & NR Marine Services announce order for First of Class 27m CTV

Diverse Marine and NR Marine Services are proud to announce the contract signing to construct the first of class Diverse Marine 27m CTV (Crew Transfer Vessel).

The international expansion of the offshore wind sector is creating significant opportunities and challenges for the maritime supply chain and rewarding operators, builders and designers of innovative craft that meet legislative requirements but reduce vessel emissions and fuel consumption.

This new vessel, to be named ‘NR Predator’, is a ground-up design using the experience and expertise gained from all stakeholders over 20 years of chartering, operating, and building crew transfer vessels. The traditional catamaran hull form has been extensively CFD tested and optimised to provide class-leading seakeeping coupled with reduced fuel consumption and emissions.

This first-of-class vessel is being built as ‘hybrid ready’ with an insulated generator space ready to receive generators and batteries, but initially, the vessel will be conventionally powered with quad Volvo Penta IPS900 engine and drive system, all fitted with IMO Tier III SCR and Urea injection exhaust systems to reduce the Nitrogen oxide & Sulphur oxide emission levels.

Other features of the new craft include enhanced foredeck capacity and wheelhouse visibility, which enables skippers, crews, and technicians to navigate challenging logistical assignments safely. For NR Marine Services, the vessel will support an ongoing commitment to the highest standards of service for offshore wind farms, while adding new levels and standards of efficiency, versatility and flexibility.

An option for a second vessel has also been secured, and Diverse Marine is proud to have worked very closely on the financing of the project with Peter Curtis and LCM Partners to provide the funding and also the start of a shipyard supported finance offering with more information available in due course.

Diverse Marine secure freehold of Medina Yard, Cowes

Diverse Marine is pleased to announce that it has completed the purchase of the freehold of Medina Yard and Medina Village from the Peter Harrison Trust. This site represents 12 acres of waterfront at Cowes on the Isle of Wight, part of which is the current base of the UK’s leading workboat builder.

Diverse Marine specialises in the construction of a varied fleet of workboats, primarily offshore wind crew transfer vessels, but in recent months also amphibious watercraft, search and rescue craft, crew boats for the HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier and a number of small workboats and RIBs. A recent notable delivery was ’Seacat Columbia’, the first of class BARTech30 for Seacat Services.

Diverse Marine & Turner Iceni Announce Upcycling Refit Completion of ‘Iceni Defiant’ on Second Day of Seawork 2022

Cowes, UK (22-06-22) – Diverse Marine and Turner Iceni are pleased to announce the completion of their fourth upcycling refit, ‘Iceni Defiant’ which has left the yard and headed straight to contract, validating the concept of refitting older craft with modern, efficient and environmentally friendly

solutions to ensure their future in the offshore wind sector.

The 17m aluminium catamaran, ‘Iceni Defiant’ was first built in 2012 and has worked continuously through her life, but has been challenged over the last few years with a preference towards larger more versatile craft. The solution was an upcycling refit to extend the working life of the vessel, increasing the net book value to a level that allows Turner Iceni to offer higher day rate values with a sensible expectation charter days per annum.

Highlights and features of the refit include:

• Lengthening of hull and deck by 3.6m

• Lengthening of technician saloon by 5.5m

• Reduction of vessel weight

• Doubling of fuel capacity

• Repower to Volvo Penta IPS900

• Minor increase to vessel speed performance

• 50% reduction in fuel consumption

• Full interior refit to modernise and reduce weight

• Full blast and repaint of coatings

The vessel left the yard after the 18-week refit and headed straight to charter on an East Coast project.

Diverse Marine & High Speed Transfers announce build of two further CTV’s on First Day of Seawork 2022

Cowes, UK (21-06-22) – Diverse Marine and High Speed Transfers are proud to announce the contract signing of two further hybrid propulsion Chartwell Marine Ambitious Class CTV’s, following on from the success of ‘HST Ella’ delivered last summer.

These two new vessels, to be named ‘HST Frances’ and ‘HST Millie’ are developed sisters of ‘HST Ella’ that incorporate subtle changes following the operation of the vessel on multiple European projects over the last few months.

The catamaran’s unique hybrid propulsion system incorporates an electric motor alongside a diesel engine, which drives a high-performance changeable pitch propeller (CPP) system. At low speeds, such as port departure and arrival or whilst loitering in the wind farm zone, this allows for silent, zero emissions operation enabling the vessel to comply with port air quality requirements. At transit speeds, it can perform capably and efficiently while ensuring the comfort of technicians. The Chartwell Marine hull form with high bollard push and superior bow height ensures confident transfer at high wave heights.

Other features of the two new craft include enhanced foredeck capacity and wheelhouse visibility, which enables skippers, crews and technicians to safely navigate challenging logistical assignments. For HST, the vessels will support an ongoing commitment to the highest standards of service for offshore wind farms, while adding new levels and standards of efficiency, versatility and flexibility.

Diverse Marine and Nauticus Robotics enter agreement to develop and build Hydronaut

Cowes, UK (13-06-22) – Diverse Marine is proud to announce its agreement with Nauticus Robotics, a Houston-area developer of offshore subsea and surface robots and autonomy software, to construct the initial production run of the Hydronaut for its Nauticus Fleet, a robotic navy with 20 Hydronaut vessels. Production and delivery of the first two vessels is scheduled for Q1 2023, with the remainder being fulfilled by the end of 2024.

The announcement follows 18 months of close collaboration between Diverse Marine and Nauticus to bring the project to fruition. Diverse Marine has the infrastructure and partnerships to build Hydronauts worldwide, including Jones Act compliant builds with its USA-based shipyard partners.

“We are delighted to have signed an agreement with Nauticus for the development and construction of Hydronaut for the Nauticus Fleet,” said Ben Colman, Director of Diverse Marine. “This is an exciting milestone in the development of our business and the start of a productive relationship with Nauticus.”

The 18m vessel’s primary objective is to support the launch, recovery and real time operations of Aquanaut, its undersea robotic counterpart. Hydronaut ferries Aquanaut to and from the worksite and supports battery recharges as well as the communications link from the local remote operations center for supervised autonomous operations. Nauticus’ Houston-based global remote operations center provides additional technical and operational support.

The 18-meter Hydronaut features:

• Aluminum hull, deck, and wheelhouse designed by Global Marine Design of Australia, working closely with the yard and client to guarantee all aspects of the vessels’ operational capability.

• Propulsion provided by Volvo Penta’s IPS1050 in twin configurations that meet the passage speed requirements of 18 knots and match perfectly to the slow running speeds required while working with Aquanaut.

• Proprietary Guardian Autonomy hardware and software provided by Marine AI.

• Sophisticated and comprehensive navigation and communications suite provided by Boat Electrics & Electronics.

• A SMART-Gyro roll dampening device is being supplied by Golden Arrow.

Other systems of note are autonomous through hull deployment of transducers and acoustic communication systems, a Kongsberg LARS Aquanuat launching system and MLC compliant sleeping and mess areas when optionally manned. The vessel will be classed with Bureau Veritas and initially flagged to MCA Workboat Code.

Nauticus’ Aquanaut is a fully electric, free-swimming subsea robot controlled with acoustic communication networking, capable of performing a wide range of data collection, inspection, and manipulation tasks. Aquanaut’s defining capability is operating in two separate modes: actively transforming itself between the excursion and intervention configurations. Excursion mode involves the usage of data collection and perception sensors during transit, while intervention mode uses two electric work-class manipulators (Nauticus’s Olympic Arms) to perform work in the subsea environment.

Commercial Rib Charter commission the build of the world’s first amphibious Crew Transfer Vessel

Cowes, UK (04-02-22) – Commercial Rib Charter commission the build of the world’s first amphibious Crew Transfer Vessel for a six-year contract at RWE’s Scroby Sands wind farm off Great Yarmouth. In another first, ‘CRC Walrus’ is to be powered by Cox’s new 300HP diesel outboard engines.

RWE have been wrestling for several years with the difficulties of ever-changing sand banks restricting access to their Scroby Sands Wind farm. Aston Goddard of RWE challenged their specialist shallow draft CTV provider ‘Commercial Rib Charter’ to find an innovative solution.

A textbook collaboration between RWE, RWE’s contract holder Commercial Rib Charter, naval architects Chartwell Marine and Isle of Wight based boat builders Diverse Marine has led to the design of the world’s first purpose built amphibious crew transfer vessel. The new boat is to be named ‘CRC Walrus’ in honour of R.J. Mitchells’ classic 1930’s Supermarine amphibious biplane.

‘CRC Walrus’ is a twelve-metre type approved crew transfer vessel with seating for two crew and eight passengers. There is a 750KG deck cargo capacity and the usual bow transfer system. Service speed is 23kts with a sprint speed of 29kts.

Powered by two Cox 300Hp diesel engines the vessel will draw only 80cm. The 600HP of motive power generated by the outboards will reduce fuel consumption by 50% over conventional inboard engines, thus further supporting RWE’s carbon neutral target.

‘CRC Walrus’ will transition from sea going to amphibious by lowering three hydraulically operated oversized wheels steered by a single nose wheel allowing her to ‘dock’ with the turbine ladder. The hydraulic system is powered by a generator.

Stuart Hedges of Commercial Rib Charter says ‘’The collaborative approach we have taken has helped mitigate the risk on such a technically innovative project. Working with highly competent marine architects and a boat builder steeped in experience has not only produced an excellent design but has done so to both budget and timetable. We signed the build contract with Diverse Marine in December, and we plan to be operational at Scroby in September this year.’’

Aston Goddard of RWE, who was himself a former CTV skipper on the windfarm is full of praise for the project. ‘’For many years we have trialled and tested various operational approaches to allow us to maintain continuous access to our turbines despite a rising seabed. Through the incredible support of both the internal RWE team and Commercial Rib Charter a bold and innovative vessel design has entered build which will deliver a step change in operational efficiency.’’

Diverse Marine & Caister Volunteer Lifeboat Service to Build New Lifeboat

Cowes, UK (21-12-21) – Diverse Marine Ltd. and Caister Volunteer Lifeboat Service Ltd. are pleased to announce that the two parties have signed a new vessel construction agreement for a first of class 14m Medina Class Lifeboat.

After a competitive international tender process using a design from Walker Marine Design, the construction of the vessel at Cowes on the Isle of Wight completes the evolutionary process that saw the original Medina Class Lifeboat built very close to the current build location over 35 years ago - before the design was adopted by the Dutch who built the stations current Lifeboat, ‘Bernard Matthews II’ 16 years ago.

The 14m self-righting Lifeboat features an aluminum hull, deck and coach roof together with a resiliently mounted GRP wheelhouse to reduce noise and vibration for the crew. The fully air-conditioned wheelhouse layout has been designed for up to six crew, all with designated AllSalt Maritime SHOXS 2000 seats. Configuration is for a central helm station forward, nav station aft to stbd and an additional dedicated space for stretcher and casualties.

Twin Scania DI13-077M main propulsion engines drive twin Hamilton HJ364 water jet units for speeds in excess of 35 knots. Twin helm stations will feature Hamilton Jet’s AVX control system and Jet-Anchor functionality for station keeping. A comprehensive navigation and communications suite will be supplied by Boat Electrics and Electronics Ltd.

The vessel has commenced build and will be delivered in 2022.

High performance 26 metre vessel showcases expertise and ingenuity of UK shipbuilding and offshore support sectors

Cowes, UK (15-07-21) – HST Marine (HST), an innovative offshore vessel operator that supports the offshore wind energy and oil and gas industries worldwide, has taken delivery of HST Ella, a new hybrid crew transfer vessel (CTV) designed by pioneering naval architect Chartwell Marine. HST Ella is the first hybrid Chartwell 24 vessel to hit the water, following her completion at local Isle of Wight shipyard Diverse Marine.

The HST Ella exhibits performance characteristics of a market leading standard, demonstrating transit speeds of 10 knots on electric propulsion and 30 knots on diesel, while during port operations, the vessel’s electric operation mode allowed for quiet and zero emission low speed maneuverability.

This is enabled by the vessel’s unique hybrid propulsion system. An electric motor sits alongside a diesel engine to drive a high-performance changeable pitch propeller (CPP) system, ensuring superior maneuverability and operational flexibility. The system is coupled with the vessel’s advanced hull form for reduced frictional resistance, and its use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO30) as fuel – a market first for a new build CTV.

Advanced CTVs such as the HST Ella are increasingly expected to perform a range of auxiliary duties alongside personnel transport. The 26-metre vessel is able to carry 24 industrial personnel alongside a maximum payload of 15 tonnes, ensuring maximum versatility when supporting offshore wind operations. Following its launch, the HST Ella will depart to begin its maiden contract at the East Anglia 1 (EA1) wind farm.

The formal handover of the vessel to HST, taking place yesterday at Diverse Marine, celebrates the ingenuity of the British shipbuilding sector, and the enviable concentration of this expertise on England’s South coast and the Isle of Wight.

AEUK awards Diverse Marine contract to manufacture SEA Class Passenger Transport Boats

Cowes, UK (15-07-21) – ATLAS ELEKTRONIK UK (AEUK) has awarded a contract to Cowes based shipyard, Diverse Marine, for the production of three SEA Class Passenger Transfer Boats (PTBs). The PTBs will be delivered by AEUK for the Royal Navy’s (RN) latest Aircraft Carrier, HMS Prince of Wales, later this year. The platforms, which are based on AEUK’s SEA Class design, will be customised to fit HMS Prince of Wales’ boat bays and to allow deployment and recovery via the Ship’s davits. Each PTB will be certified to carry 34 passengers with up to three crew.

AEUK took the strategic decision to sub-contract the PTBs to Diverse Marine because of their proven track record with aluminium construction and ability to customise the design. Production of the PTBs will happen in parallel with the other SEA Class platforms currently being produced for the RN at AEUK’s Platform Integration facilities in Winfrith, Dorset.

Diverse Marine and High Speed Transfers select NWF fuels to reduce emissions even further on new build hybrid CTV.

Cowes, UK (25-06-21) – Diverse Marine, the industry leading workboat constructor and refit/repair provider and High Speed Transfers and industry leading CTV operator has selected NWF Fuels to supply HVO30 for the first fueling of the new build hybrid CTV, HST ELLA.

HVO30 is a made from 30% hydrogenated vegetable oil and a marine gas oil fuel blend specified compliant EN590. Compared to standard marine gas oil, HVO30 is predicted to result in around 18% reduction in equivalent CO2 emissions. The renewable fuel is created from 100% waste vegetable oils and holds a proof of sustainability certificate from the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) system.

HST ELLA is the first new build CTV in the world to be first filled with HVO30 and demonstrates commitment for the companies involved to reach New Zero.

HST places order with UK shipyard for two BARTech 30 CTVs and an additional Chartwell 24 in high-tech boost for offshore wind.

High Speed Transfers (HST), an innovative crew transfer vessel (CTV) operator that supports the offshore wind energy and oil and gas industries worldwide, has confirmed its order to Diverse Marine for two BARTech 30 CTVs from marine engineering consultancy, BAR Technologies, and an additional hybrid Chartwell 24, with BAR Technologies’ Foil Optimised Stability System (FOSS) from Chartwell Marine.

As offshore wind technology continues to evolve and projects are developed further out to sea, the operational profiles that wind farm operators require have become diversified. Versatile fleets have become increasingly prized in the race to scale the sector in new markets. Equally, as decarbonising the vessel supply chain becomes a key imperative for wind farm owners and operators, BAR Technologies’ CTV is set to provide HST with fuel – and therefore emissions – savings of up to 30%.

Additionally, to ensure that new projects can be safely and efficiently maintained, vessel designers have risen to the challenge to deliver the next wave of innovation in offshore wind’s maritime supply chain – without sacrificing the proven characteristics that have underpinned the sector’s success to date. The two BARTech 30 vessels will offer HST the flexibility to operate year-round, benefiting from a significant reduction in vertical acceleration to ensure optimal performance.

Crucially, the vessels will all have the same layout of the console, seating and bridge, adhering to HST’s strict safety specifications and ensuring operational familiarity for crew and passengers.

Diverse Marine completes early delivery of ‘Iceni Valour’ to Turner Iceni despite challenges of pandemic

Diverse Marine, the industry leading workboat constructor and refit/repair provider is delighted to announce the early delivery of the offshore wind crew transfer vessel ‘Iceni Valour’ to Turner Iceni. The vessel arrived successfully ahead of schedule in North Wales, to commence her 10-year charter in the Liverpool Bay area.

‘Iceni Valour’ is a 24m aluminium CTV designed by Walker Marine Design to meet the specific requirements of Turner Iceni and their long term client. Every aspect of the vessel has been designed to maximise vessel reliability and provide the highest levels of comfort for both the crew and the technicians.

Powered by twin MAN D2862 LE263 1400hp main engines with ZF3050 gearboxes and Hamilton Jet HM651 water jet units, the vessel achieved sprint speeds of 29 knots - maintaining a service speed in excess of 25 knots. With 12,000ltrs of fuel and 12 technicians, the vessel can carry 20,000 kg of deck cargo with only a modest reduction in performance. The hybrid ready Hamilton Jet AVX control system also provides station keeping using the Jet-Anchor function to enable low fuel consumption position lock whilst standing by offshore.

Sea trials during February demonstrated minimal speed loss in higher sea states to ensure the vessel remains operational in the harshest of operating conditions. Twin 37kw NANNI generators provide 400V to the switchboard, providing ship wide hotel loads, as well as a power pack for the crane and winch.

The resiliently mounted deckhouse ensures very low vibration, with noise levels of just 58DbA in the passenger saloon at 25 knots. The technician space benefits from Turner Iceni’s considerable experience as a CTV operator and features, shock mitigating seating, automatic climate control, large window areas, concealed lighting, a forward access door together with underfloor heating to ensure the space remains dry on the wettest days. The flat foredeck provides safe and secure access to on/offshore assets.

The bridge provides a next generation configuration for CTV’s, designed with a minimalist helm console with only essential equipment positioned for the skipper, to ensure that all controls are within arcs of movement. Twin Furuno TZ Touch 19” monitors provide the heart of the vessels navigation and communications with the ability to share information to twin 42” and one 32” Hatteland monitors using Furuno Time Zero. At the core is an augmented reality system using a FLIR thermal camera to show AIS targets, routes, waypoints and navigation hazards over a video screen in real time. All non-essential equipment is located aft on a separate console enabling the crew to interrogate all systems without compromising the safe navigation of the vessel.

Seacat Services places four vessel order with Diverse Marine

Order confirmed for two BAR Technologies designed BARTech 30 crew transfer vessels (CTV) and two Chartwell Marine designed Chartwell 24 crew transfer vessels with advanced Foil Optimised Stability System (FOSS).

Class-leading offshore energy support vessel (OESV) operator, Seacat Services, has ordered two further Chartwell 24 vessels to complement its growing fleet. This deal closely follows Seacat’s double order for the new BARTech 30 vessels, with the build contract for all four boats awarded to Diverse Marine. It strengthens the collaboration between the four South Coast-based businesses as they continue to bolster a robust local offshore energy supply chain. Delivery of the vessels is scheduled for the spring of 2022 and 2023.

The BARTech 30 vessels - to be named Seacat Columbia and Seacat Cambria - are focused on creating fuel efficiency through a highly optimised SWATH PROA multi-hull design, working alongside BAR Technologies patented Foil Optimised Stability System (FOSS). These vessels will consequently be among the first true ‘Low Emission Vehicles’ (LEV’s) servicing the offshore wind market with total emissions 30% lower than conventional CTV designs as well as ultimately cutting CO2 emissions by up to 600 tonnes per annum if working on a 12 hour shift of operation.

These latest Chartwell 24 vessels - to be names Seacat Sceptre and Seacat Sovereign - will be the first equipped with a new Foil Optimisation Stability System (FOSS) designed by BAR Technologies. This system will enhance vessel stability, improving comfort for offshore wind technicians, and create substantial operational efficiency gains.

The addition of the FOSS to the Chartwell 24, will help dampen pitch and roll, further enhancing its seakeeping capabilities and manoeuvrability. This will ensure that technicians can be accommodated safely and comfortably for optimal job performance on arrival. Optimising the vessel in this way also contributes to reduced fuel burn and emissions, with efficiency savings of up to 15%.

First ‘next-generation’ Chartwell 24 catamaran hits the water, building on a proven formula for safe, effective offshore wind vessel support

Cowes, 31st July 2020 - Class-leading offshore energy support vessel operator Seacat Services has announced the acceptance of Seacat Weatherly, the first next-generation Chartwell 24 catamaran designed by pioneering naval architect Chartwell Marine to enter operational service. Following her completion at the Diverse Marine shipyard in Cowes and successful sea trials, Seacat Weatherly heads straight on to her first charter contract at a major UK offshore wind project.

Seacat Weatherly is the culmination of long-term collaboration between South Coast businesses Seacat Services, Chartwell Marine and shipyard Diverse Marine, and the product of an industry-wide drive to refine the formula for offshore wind vessel support. As offshore wind projects grow in scale, customers are placing increased emphasis on the core metrics that define effective vessel operation, including the safety and comfort of crew transfers, ‘time on turbine’ for technicians, technical availability and efficiency.

The first of a two-vessel order, Seacat Weatherly is designed to meet – and exceed – the operational standards expected by offshore wind project owners and contractors. She brings a number of key technical innovations to the market including advanced engine and hull design, a large foredeck and safety features such as step-free access, sliding handrails and unrestricted visibility from the wheelhouse.

This has all been achieved while making use of many of the same components and equipment as her sister vessels in the 13-strong Seacat Services fleet, in order to maintain operational familiarity and ensure effective management of spares and inventory.

Chartwell and Diverse seal hybrid CTV order from High Speed Transfers

Industry leading new construction, refit and repair provider Diverse Marine Ltd. and industry leading crew transfer vessel service provider, Turner Iceni are pleased to announce that a new building contract has been signed for the construction of ‘Iceni Valour’.

The 24m offshore wind crew transfer vessel has been designed keel up by Walker Marine Design of Southampton to meet the specific requirements of Turner Iceni and Gwynt Y Mor Offshore Wind Farm Ltd. who have the vessel under long term charter from next year.

As well as developing a hull form suited to the prevailing wave conditions on site other main considerations were to maximise the superstructure width but still allowing for full crew walk around, a resilient superstructure to minimize structure borne vibration noise levels throughout the saloon and wheelhouse, flat working decks forward and aft with ramped side decks and simplified systems to maximise reliability and ease of maintenance by the crew and shore side support teams.

The vessel is to be powered by MAN V12-1400 main engines coupled to ZF gears and Hamilton HM651 waterjets complete with AVX control system, featuring JetAnchor GPS positioning system. Humphree ride control system provides active stabilisation and improved performance/reduced fuel consumption in varied load and trim conditions.

Diverse Marine contract ‘Iceni Courage’ modification and up-cycling works

Industry leading refit and repair provider Diverse Marine Ltd. is pleased to confirm that it has signed a contract with offshore wind crew transfer vessel service provider Turner Iceni Ltd. for the modification and upcycling of ‘Iceni Courage’ following a competitive tender process.

‘Iceni Courage’ is a 15m crew transfer vessel built in the yard back in 2009. The dynamic offshore wind sector has developed over the last decade with a requirement for larger, faster and more efficient craft so the time had come for the vessel’s owners to consider a sale or repurposing of the vessel out of the offshore wind industry. However, following the success of the ‘MCS Maestro’ to ‘Iceni Warrior’ and ‘MPI Don Quixote’ to ‘Iceni Revenge’ upcycling and life extension refits carried out early in 2019, a similar refit had to be considered.

The ‘Iceni Courage’ life extension project includes stretching the hull, deck and superstructure by 3.6m, repowering the vessel to Volvo Penta IPS900, relocation and replacement of the ships generator, relocation of the fresh water and grey water tanks with all new plumbing, cutting in a forward side door to the saloon, cutting in an additional third crew position on the bridge and full refit of the interior. The refit will include the ‘Iceni Gen 3’ upgrades with new, lighter and more accommodating linings, all new heads compartment, all new galley with modern appliances and all new windows and doors. In addition, the vessel is to be repainted from top to bottom.

Diverse Marine Contract ‘Seacat Rainbow’ with Seacat Services

Three months after signing a new build agreement for ‘Seacat Weatherly’ with Seacat Services Ltd., the yard is pleased to confirm that an option for a further, identical vessel to be named ‘Seacat Rainbow’ has been contracted.

‘Seacat Rainbow’ is the second vessel in the Chartwell Marine 24 series and will be powered by twin MTU 12V2000M72 1450hp main engines and Kongsberg Kamewa S56 water jet units. The vessel, built to BV class, under survey, and HSC-OSC for 26px/industrial personnel, will be delivered Q3, 2020.

‘Seacat Weatherly’ is progressing quickly with the experienced team engaging Aluminium Marine Consultants to complete the fabrication and welding phases of the build. As we enter week 9 of construction, the structure is all standing, lower shell plates are in place and the vessel is scaffolded and staged ready for the upper shell plates to be welded into place. In parallel to this the fuel tanks and bow fender structure are in place and complete.

Of course, there are challenges, the usual first of class issues and delays in the supply chain, but we have worked through them using our experience and working with the supply chain to ensure timely and quality deliveries.”

‘Seacat Weatherly’ and ‘Seacat Rainbow’ are the notable new builds but the yard has also recently delivered ‘HM1’, a new build 9m RIB to Cowes Harbour Commission and are currently building a 10m Survey Catamaran ‘Coastal Observer’ for Audacious Marine Services and a further 9m RIB ‘Sea Kitten’ for a private client.

Today marks 12 months since the Directors of Diverse Marine at Medina Yard, Cowes acquired the assets and equipment of their former employers South Boats IOW, securing the employment of 20 staff on the site.

From humble beginnings, but always with the support of the company’s staff, clients and suppliers, the team have forged a successful path in the commercial marine sector, achieving a multi-million pound turnover and securing the immediate future of the business through long term work commitments.

Deliveries of note include a new harbour patrol vessel for Cowes Harbour Commission and successful refit projects for Aspect Land & Hydrographic Surveys, Commercial RIB Charters, Faversham Ships, PAG Group/Ambrey, the RNLI, Seacat Services,Turner Iceni, UK Border Force. Diverse Marine has also supported many operators with maintenance and repairs including Solent & Wightline Cruises, Mareel/TurbineTransfers, Seaward, Newhaven Port Authority, Hampshire Police, NR Marine Services, Williams Shipping, Landau UK, MST and many others, for which the company are extremely grateful.

Twelve months ago, we started with some equipment, a loyal team, a very modest business plan but with our ethos of delivering high quality, cost effective refits and repairs to clients that valued an integrated approach to complete each project. Ben adds, “there are too many to thank but special mention must go our staff, all of whom were facing an uncertain future 12-13 months ago, but as a team have worked hard to deliver each and every project, often working long hours. As well as the 9m harbour patrol RIB for Cowes Harbour the success of the business has generated further new build contracts including a 10m Aluminium Survey Catamaran, a further 9m Aluminium RIB and most notably a 24m Wind Farm Crew Transfer Vessel for Seacat Services on the Isle of Wight. Diverse Marine works closely with island business Aluminium Marine Consultants, also now based at Medina Yard, who deliver the aluminium fabrication and hot works for most of the company’s projects. This approach enables both companies to keep their overheads down, ensuring competitive pricing and the ability to produce both bespoke and production builds to an international market.

The company also attracted the attention of Bremerton USA based but internationally renowned boat builder, SAFE Boats International. Diverse Marine now has a formal agreement in place to support SAFE in the UK and has a SAFE 35 Multi-Mission Interceptor demonstration vessel at the yard. Matt Chessell. Director adds “The company is also keen to mimic our relationship with AMC into a new venture to produce GRP and Composite vessels. We have a license from Peter Eyre Marine Design to produce a range of Pilot Boats and Search & Rescue Craft and we will be pursuing this through the course of this year”.

Another key area for the future is fishing vessels and Matt Floyd, Director adds “We have worked for over 12 months to understand the requirements of the industry and what is needed from an Under 10m and Under 12m craft. Working with Chartwell Marine Design, we have produced the Catchwell 10m and 12m vessels, featuring a high buoyancy hull form to enable high catch payloads yet retaining high raft height and high levels of seakeeping and comfort”.

The company has no plans for rapid expansion but intends to use its second year to solidify its position for stability and continue to provide high levels of support, competitively priced commercial refits and selected new builds. Seacat Services places multi-million pound order for Chartwell 24 offshore wind catamaran with Diverse Marine

New offshore energy support vessel, Seacat Weatherly, to be built locally by Diverse Marine, with AMC contracted by Diverse for all fabrication and welding activities, providing a regional investment boost for the Isle of Wight.

Seacat Services is the first operator to adopt Chartwell Marine’s next-generation Chartwell 24, a vessel design that will set new benchmarks for reliability, safety and performance in the international offshore wind markets

Class-leading offshore energy support vessel (OESV) operator, Seacat Services, has signed a multi-million-pound contract to build a new next-generation catamaran for deployment in the offshore wind sector.

Seacat Weatherly, designed by Southampton-based naval architect Chartwell Marine, will be constructed by Isle of Wight firms Diverse Marine and Aluminium Marine Consultants (AMC) in Cowes, providing a boost to the renewable energy supply chain on the South Coast. The contract includes an option for a further vessel, which would see Seacat Weatherly joined by a sister vessel in the Seacat Services fleet.

With unprecedented demand for specialist vessel support as large-scale offshore wind farms are brought online throughout the UK and Europe – and emerging opportunities in international markets such as the USA and Asia – the industry has been calling for a new generation of OESV designs that meet the evolving requirements of project development and operation. Capitalising on lessons learnt from the most effective vessels currently in operation, and refining this formula, is an essential requirement as the industry scales up.

Scheduled for completion in March 2020, Seacat Weatherly is set to be the first Chartwell 24 catamaran to enter service. The Chartwell 24 vessel design has been developed by Chartwell Marine off the back of ten years of offshore wind vessel design and experience, alongside extensive dialogue with high profile stakeholders, including Seacat Services and leading wind farm owners and turbine manufacturers.

For Seacat Services, the vessel – which can accommodate 24 industrial personnel, alongside 4 crew – will directly support its commitment to deliver the highest standards of safety performance, technical availability and ultimately ‘time on turbine’ for offshore wind technicians.

Seacat Weatherly will boast one of the largest foredecks on the market, enhancing her cargo-carrying capacity, and has been optimised for safety, with designated walkways, handrails and safety sliding rails positioned for safe, repeatable crew transfer. Skippers will benefit from a unique wheelhouse configuration that provides total control and complete visibility during complex logistical and crew transfer operations.

These innovations have been introduced without compromising on vessel performance, with Seacat Weatherly’s hull and engine configuration designed to provide superior transit speed and manoeuvrability, alongside high bollard push and frictional holding force – both of which are critical attributes for vessels ‘pushing on’ to offshore wind turbines and other infrastructure.

Perhaps most significantly, the vessel design will offer high levels of operational familiarity for crews and technicians, meaning that Seacat Weatherly will fit seamlessly into the existing 14-strong Seacat Services fleet of class-certified OESVs.

Cowes Harbour Commission sign contract for a 9m Patrol RIB

Diverse Marine Ltd. and Cowes Harbour Commission are pleased to announce they have signed a contract for the design, construction and delivery of a 9m Patrol RIB.

The new vessel, designed in conjunction with Medtec Design Services of East Cowes, meets the criteria of being designed and built on the Isle of Wight.

The 9m Patrol RIB is to be constructed of aluminium to a heavy duty specification and will feature a flush deck with a track system for mounting additional seating or to allow reconfiguration to carry stores and equipment to the outer reaches of the harbour and beyond.

A single Volvo Penta D4 engine and Hamilton HJ274 water jet will propel the vessel to 30 knots in light conditions. 500mm‘D’ shaped heavy duty inflatable tubes will maximise the internal beam whilst allowing soft landing against visiting yachts - whilst a foam filled solid bow provides the versatility to nudge and push vessels in light tug type operations.

Two vessels repurposed to join the Turner Iceni fleet

Turner Iceni have recently purchased two vessels - MCS Maestro and Don Quixote - both are now alongside at Diverse Marine in Cowes, ready for a full refit and return to operations in Turner Iceni livery for 2019.

MCS Maestro, a 18m South Boat, was purchased from Maritime Craft Services. The vessel will be refitted with Volvo IPS 900, shot blasted and repainted in Turner Iceni livery. Interior modifications include a new galley and updated nav comms.

Don Quixote, a 20m South Boat built in 2009, was purchased from Vroon. She will be re-engined with 1400hp MAN and Hamilton 651 jets which will have the new AVX control system and jet anchor. Don Quixote is also going to be lengthened to 23m and have 25,000 litres of fuel on board for refuelling operations. The interior is going to be fully refreshed with new galley and seating.

Maestro will be completed by March 2019 with Don Quixote ready to be exhibited at Seawork 2019.

The work will be carried out by Diverse Marine in Cowes on the IOW. The management of Diverse Marine were involved in the development and build of both vessels and therefore have extensive knowledge to offer during the refit. In addition the Diverse Marine team assisted Turner Iceni in sourcing suitable craft and brokering the sale of the vessels.

We share Turner Iceni’s vision in how these craft can be repurposed and brought in-line with current legislation and operational requirements. As a key supplier and stakeholder to the renewable industry, Turner Iceni feel it their duty and obligation to recycle and repurpose older assets to help reduce the company’s carbon footprint. These craft have successfully served the offshore renewables industry for the last 10 years and Turner Iceni is excited to give these vessels another 10 years of service, meeting current regulations and operational requirements, without the capital expense and environmental concerns of a new build.

Turner Iceni actively continue to research and implement ways of keeping the cost of renewable energy down and ensuring the company’s green credentials.

New Catchwell catamaran, with design input from Diverse Marine, brings technology and lessons learnt from large vessel operation to private and small-scale commercial fishing

Chartwell Marine, a pioneer in next generation vessel design, has announced the launch of the Catchwell, a brand-new vessel design for the small-scale private and commercial fishing sector. The catamaran design responds to extensive feedback from fishermen, alongside operational lessons learnt from advanced maritime industries, such as offshore wind.

The Catchwell, available in 10 metre and 12 metre models, is optimised for carrying high loads, with a semi-modular catamaran hull form that can be adapted to the needs of the fisherman or operator. The first vessel is currently in build on the Isle of Wight by experienced vessel construction, refit, repair & maintenance specialist, Diverse Marine, who have provided extensive input during the design process.

As many of the existing vessels at the smaller end of the market start to reach the end of their lifetime – and as opportunities emerge for small-scale fishing in Europe and further afield – demand for new, more capable fishing boats is growing. Vessel owners who invested in catamarans 10 to 15 years ago and are now looking to replace their boats, alongside new entrants to the market, now have an opportunity to take advantage of a new generation of vessels with significantly enhanced performance and efficiency.

In particular, many existing small catamaran designs are not well optimised for high volumes of cargo. With limited reserve buoyancy, a large catch may cause ‘wet deck slamming’ – the results of which are an uncomfortable ride in rough waters, potential damage to the structural integrity of the vessel, and also more fuel burnt during operation.

The new Catchwell design benefits from significant research and development carried out in the development of state-of-the-art crew transfer and support vessels for the offshore wind energy sector. The vessel has been designed with a higher freeboard, meaning that the wet deck between the twin hulls of the catamaran doesn’t come into contact with the water, even under heavy loading. This avoids aggressive vertical accelerations, leading to a smoother, safer and more fuel-efficient ride.

Alongside this new hull form, the Catchwell brings in a number of tried and tested innovations from larger catamarans that enhance the long-term reliability of the vessel, faced with long operational hours in rough waters. These include commonality of components across the vessel, which makes conducting repairs on board as simple as possible and reduces time spent out of action.

Diverse Marine - quality refit & repair with fast turn-arounds

Diverse Marine’s first month of operation has seen a steady stream of high quality refit and repair work from the RNLI, Turner Iceni, Turbine Transfers, Border Force and other work boat operators and pleasure craft owners.

Following the purchase of the assets and equipment of South Boats IOW in July, Diverse Marine has the capabilities and expertise to undertake routine maintenance, repair and refit work and new build projects all conveniently located on the Medina River in Cowes.With extensive workshops, parts warehouse and a reliable supply chain, Diverse Marine’s highly skilled and experienced teams are able to repair, maintain and refit most types of vessels.

Recent projects include the refit of RNLI E-005, a fast response lifeboat stationed at Tower Pier on the Thames and extensive works to ON1173, a Mersey Class Lifeboat stationed at Sea houses, including the installation of rebuilt CAT 3207V8 engines - all part of a framework agreement with the RNLI to provide service based works on all classes of RNLI Lifeboats.

Iceni Victory, a 24m wind farm service vessel originally built at Medina Yard, returned to Diverse Marine for a 5 year class survey and refit.This included all manner of testing and servicing for BV compliance as well as client specific upgrades such as new saloon flooring, recoating the 5yr Intersleek anti-fouling system, new deck soft patches over the fuel tank spaces, relocating the Kabola water boiler from the engine space to the tank space and installation of aWASSP Multibeam Survey system and hull fairing. Launched on-time and on-budget, Iceni Victory has now been re-issued with class certification.

The former business managers of South Boats IOW have completed the purchase of the assets and equipment of the company for an undisclosed sum. All of the South Boats IOW plant, equipment and employees have now transferred to their new company, Diverse Marine Ltd.

Headed by Ben Colman and Matt Floyd, Diverse Marine will continue to offer commercial vessel repair and refit, supporting previous, existing and new clients with any requirements.

Ben Colman, Director of Diverse Marine: “We are delighted to announce the completion of the purchase and formation of Diverse Marine - we are overwhelmed by the support from clients, suppliers and the wider marine industry as we take the company into the future. This is enormously positive news for all the families of staff involved and for the island’s marine industry. We have a strong vision for the future and have started to map how we may get there. The support and integration of our team as the company steps on this path is very important to us.”

Diverse Marine will continue to be based at Medina Yard, with a lease in place for the next three years and a commitment to secure the future of the business for the long term.

A new portfolio of commercial vessel designs is being developed in conjunction with multiple 3rd party Naval Architects, including RIB’s, fishing boats, work boats and, looking to the future, wind farm crew transfer vessels, to create a diverse range of craft for any application.
