Latest Launch: Caister Lifeboat

Customer: Caister Volunteer Lifeboat Service

Caister witnessed a transition on Sunday 6th August as the new state-of-the-art £1.6 million lifeboat made its debut. Despite the morning’s unfavorable weather, Caister Lifeboat Day,
a highlight in the community’s calendar, eventually kicked off at 1pm, drawing over 2,000 supporters.

As the clouds cleared, the focus shifted to the main event — a fascinating comparison between the outgoing Bernard Matthews II and the incoming CVLS 45-01, designed by Walker Marine Design. The new 45-foot Medina-class vessel, built on the Isle of Wight over the past year, met its predecessor on the water, marking a symbolic changing of the guard.

Coxswain Guy Gibson, “We wanted to show a comparison between the old boat and the new. It was a proud moment to give a demonstration of our new vessel. It’s a great bit of kit and was really well received. It was a pleasure to see everyone come down, and we really appreciate the support”.

The new lifeboat is set to return to Diverse Marine for final testing with its bespoke carriage before being deployed for operational service later this year.
